Smart Cam Systems

Perfect Uniformity for Highest Quality

CamCOUNT and FabricINSPECTOR provide innovative approaches to enhance thread density control and optimize finishing processes in textile production. Our systems provide precise and automated control over the thread density of woven and knitted fabrics, offering a practical approach to addressing the challenges of complex machinery, resource scarcity, and rising energy costs in textile manufacturing.

The CamCOUNT provides state-of-the-art optical measurements of fabric density, mesh count, and angle of distortion to provide the necessary information for stretching, shrinkage, and feed forward control. The basis weight can be determined by analyzing these values.

FabricINSPECTOR & FI Portable perfectly complement the system by allowing the determination of fabric density or thread frequency already in goods income control and between process steps, thereby preventing problems in final finishing.

CamCOUNT

Adaptable. Scalable. Plug and Play.

Thanks to its resistance to disturbances such as light influences or fluttering of the material, CamCOUNT enables precise fabric measurements even in hard-to-reach areas, such as directly on the deflection roller or in spaces with limited room.

A single camera at the fabric inlet is sufficient to compensate for variations and deviations. A second camera at the outlet additionally corrects the various influencing variables of long processing zones in large systems.

Fabric measurement at a standstill shortens adjustment processes and setup times. CamCOUNT operates with the SETEX C390 controller as camera server and can be connected to OrgaTEX MES for automatic parameter setting and process monitoring.

Applications:

  1. Determining the fabric density with shrinkage control in compactors and sanforizing.
  2. Determining the fabric density with overfeed control in stenters.

Your Advantages:

  1. Measurement of woven and knitted fabric.
  2. A single camera for articles from 5 to 250 threads/meshes per cm (high-density fabric).
  3. An alternative camera for determining the density of 80 to 2 threads per cm.
  4. Unaffected by the color and brightness of the fabric.
  5. Precise measurement at any goods speed, even at a standstill.
  6. Setting assistance for sophisticated articles via camera image.
  7. Measurement values and visual fabric control with SETEX controller.
  8. Visualization possible on mobile browsers.

What is Fabric Density?

In woven fabrics, fabric density is a crucial parameter, determined by the combination of warp and weft densities - the total count of warp and weft threads in a given area, measured in either inches or centimeters. This density significantly influences the fabric's characteristics, such as its strength, stretchability, and appearance.

For knitted fabrics, fabric density is equally important, representing the number of threads or meshes in a specific area. The arrangement of these warp or weft threads forms the unique structure of the knit, directly impacting its quality and attributes. Fabric density, typically expressed as threads or meshes per unit of length or area, plays a vital role in quality control and compliance with production specifications, ensuring products meet the desired customer standards.

Which Machine Manufacturers Use CamCOUNT?

CamCOUNT is used by some machine builders in the original equipment of their machines and is also supplied on demand. SETEX is a manufacturer-independent solution provider for custom industrial image processing and has over 10 years of experience in developing industrial camera measurement techniques for optical thread control in manufacturing processes. Machine manufacturers can deploy CamCOUNT as an integrated slave system, with the camera server operating hidden in the control cabinet. Data exchange is done via OPC-UA, configuration and visualization via standard web browsers through network IP, sometimes integrated into the machine control.

Can CamCOUNT be Retrofitted on Existing Equipment?

CamCOUNT can retrofit legacy equipment to capture metrics like mesh count, fabric density, and angle of distortion online and non-contact. The real-time optical measurement digitally controls the feed forward control and improves the precision, performance, and efficiency of existing equipment.
The SETEX C390 controller can be used purely as camera server, with applications and visualizations being executed directly in OrgaTEX MES. Alternatively, this can also be done directly on the controller on the machine, but it is still fully integrated into the OrgaTEX MES.
Planned orders with parameter settings can be loaded, and upon completion, process and machine data can be shared with the MES for further use. Data exchange with the OEM control is done via OPC-UA.
